KRG spokesman Peshawa Hawramani told Channel8 that there are no obstacles to oil exports from the Kurdistan Region, as Parliament has made a decision on the matter and determined the cost of extracting each barrel.

Hawramani further stated that the Kurdistan Region and Turkey have expressed their readiness to resume oil exports, but the federal government has not shown serious intentions to take steps in that direction.

Hawramani told Channel8, “The technical delegation between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government was scheduled to meet today, March 12, on the issue of oil exports, but at the request of the Iraqi Oil Ministry, the meeting was postponed.”

He also highlighted the government's objectives in the Light Project, which aims to end the 33-year history of electricity shortages, emphasizing: “The goal is to provide 24-hour electricity to the citizens of the Kurdistan Region without burden.”

Regarding the high price of electricity and criticism of the Light Project, he said, “Those who speak against the process are misleading, and the government does not want citizens to be harmed.”

He noted that the project aims to reduce waste in the electricity sector.

Hawramani confirmed, “We will distribute the March salaries before Eid al-Fitr, and the February salary list will be released today, March 12.” He added, “Masrour Barzani, at today's meeting of the Council of Ministers, has instructed all ministers to prepare the salary list for March and send it to Baghdad.”

He further mentioned that the Prime Minister has instructed his ministers to work during the holidays to ensure that March salaries are distributed before Eid al-Fitr.
