The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) issued a statement on Sunday expressing its position on the formation of a new Syrian government, stating, "We will not abide by its [new government] decisions."

AANES noted that over the past few weeks and months, Syrians have been awaiting the formation of a national government that reflects the country’s diversity and plurality.

"However, the government announced in Damascus on Saturday evening is largely similar to the previous government in terms of ignoring Syria's diversity, continuing unilateral control over it, and lacking fair and genuine representation for all communities of the Syrian people," AANES said.

The statement further emphasized, "These policies, which the Damascus government insists on, Take us back to square one, where one party monopolizes power and excludes Syrian communities and tribes from the political process and the governance of the country's affairs."

AANES stated that this approach "completely contradicts the goals for which the Syrians revolted in their revolution and the change they aspired to."

The Autonomous Administration stressed that any government failing to reflect Syria's diversity "cannot run the country properly and save it from the crisis it is suffering from. Instead, it deepens the crisis and does not eliminate the causes that led to it."

AANES declared, "We do not abide by the decisions issued by the government. This insistence on repeating the mistakes of the past will harm the Syrians and will never lead to the start of a comprehensive political process that can find solutions to the unresolved issues and crises Syria faces."

The Autonomous Administration reaffirmed its commitment to the basic demands "for which the Syrians revolted: the establishment of a democratic, shared, decentralized Syria that guarantees the right to citizenship and the right to fair participation in all aspects of political life."

Syria's new government of 23 ministers was formed in a ceremony in Damascus on Saturday, March 29, but the Autonomous Administration did not participate.
