Iran's Revolutionary Guard Spokesman: National Security, Defense, and Military Power Are Red Lines
Ali Mohammad Naini, the spokesman for Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), emphasized on Tuesday that Iran's military capabilities are non-negotiable.
“National security, defense, and military power are among the red lines of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Naini stated, as reported by the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB).
The IRGC statement comes a day after U.S. President Donald Trump warned that Iran should abandon the “concept” of nuclear weapons. Trump stressed that the U.S. seeks to prevent Iran from acquiring such arms and cautioned that swift measures may be necessary if the ongoing talks fail.
Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held telephone discussions with his counterparts in Iraq, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain. The conversations focused on regional developments, bilateral relations, and the progress of nuclear negotiations.
Meanwhile, the Iranian Foreign Ministry announced that Abbas Araghchi will travel to Moscow later this week for consultations following the recent nuclear talks with the United States held in Oman.
A high-level Iranian delegation led by Araghchi met with a U.S. team headed by envoy Steve Witkoff in Oman. Prior to the meeting, President Trump stated his desire for Iran to “flourish” while underscoring Washington’s firm opposition to Tehran obtaining nuclear weapons. Iran, in turn, reiterated its commitment to safeguarding its sovereignty and national interests.
