During an official visit to Abu Dhabi on Saturday, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein emphasized that “dialogue remains the best way to resolve disputes and avoid escalation,” underscoring the necessity of regional cooperation to establish a lasting and inclusive security framework.

A statement from the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that “Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein arrived in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi, on an official visit, and was received by the UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Khalifa Shaheen Al-Marar.”

The two officials discussed ways to boost bilateral ties between Iraq and the UAE, described in the statement as “two brotherly countries.” The talks also touched on the latest developments in the ongoing negotiations between Iran and the United States.

Hussein warned of the dire consequences of any potential regional conflict, stating that “the importance of avoiding the outbreak of any conflict in the region” cannot be overstated, due to the “disastrous repercussions it could have for all.” He reiterated the urgent need to “build bridges of stability by finding common ground,” calling regional dialogue essential to safeguarding mutual interests.

UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Khalifa Shaheen Al-Marar, for his part, praised the “strong fraternal relations between the UAE and the Republic of Iraq,” and highlighted that “development and political stability in the region can only be achieved in a secure and stable environment.” He stressed the importance of joint coordination to enhance regional security in light of the challenges currently facing the Middle East.
