UAE-based Dana Gas has announced that its KM250 gas field expansion in the Khor Mor area is advancing rapidly, with “first gas expected in the first quarter of 2026,” according to the company’s Q1 2025 financial report.

The KM250 project, located in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, is poised to significantly boost production. “Once fully operational, the project will add 250 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of processing capacity,” Dana Gas said, which represents a 50% increase in output for Pearl Petroleum, the consortium developing the field.

In addition to natural gas, the expansion will bring online 7,000 barrels per day of condensate and 460 tonnes per day of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

Pearl Petroleum assumed full control of the KM250 expansion in September 2024, after terminating the original engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor. Construction activities resumed in December.

Beyond Khor Mor, Dana Gas also highlighted progress at Chamchamal, calling it “one of Iraq’s largest undeveloped gas fields.” Pearl Petroleum has launched its initial development there, backed by a $160 million investment. The program includes drilling three wells and installing an extended well test facility, aiming for production of up to 75 MMSCFD in the second half of 2026.

Meanwhile, in Egypt, Dana Gas committed to a $100 million investment over two years to drill 11 new wells. The company confirmed that “drilling operations for the first well will begin in May 2025.”
