The third conference of the Gorran (Change) Movement opened in Sulaymaniyah on Saturday with 860 members from both the Zargata and Kurdsat factions, but tensions soon emerged outside the conference hall.

A Channel8 reporter said clashes occurred both outside and inside the venue. Inside, the Zargata faction accused Kurdsat of admitting individuals not registered on the official attendance list.

The Iraqi Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) is supervising the Gorran Movement conference.

According to Channel8, 860 delegates are participating in the conference, with IHEC approving the list of attendees and officially commencing the proceedings.

Earlier, Shakhawan Rauf of the Kurdsat faction confirmed their preparedness to attend the conference, emphasizing their leadership role and expressing optimism for a successful outcome.

Meanwhile, Abdullah Qadir, spokesperson for the Gorran Zargata faction, stated that the movement is now split into two separate parties, each with its own constitution and membership list.

Qadir added that the conference is being held under pressure from the Iraqi Electoral Commission, which aims to determine leadership proportions within a unified list.
