The Kurdistan Region Security Agency announced the arrest of two terrorists in Sulaymaniyah who planned to carry out an explosion at a Civil Defense facility.

According to a statement from the agency on Wednesday, following a thorough investigation and intelligence gathering triggered by the circulation of a video on social networks containing threats of explosions, Asayish forces quickly identified the terrorists’ location.

The agency revealed that one of the arrested individuals was an employee at one of the Civil Defense facilities.

Following confessions, authorities learned that the terrorists initially planned to poison the drinking water tank at the Civil Defense facility. Their second plan involved carrying out explosions by attaching bombs to vehicles belonging to the facility.

However, Asayish forces successfully foiled the plot and apprehended the suspects. They have been detained under Article 2 of the Anti-Terrorism Law, and investigations are ongoing.
