Baghdad witnessed the inauguration of the “Arab-Kurdish Cultural Center,” a new hub aimed at fostering cultural exchange, with participation from prominent officials and literary figures from Iraq and Kurdistan.

The opening ceremony was attended by Iraqi President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities Ahmed Fakak al-Badrani, Minister of Environment Dr. Hallo al-Askari, and a diverse array of cultural and literary personalities.

In a speech delivered during the event, President Rashid highlighted that the center’s launch goes beyond a cultural celebration. He described it as “a step toward strengthening cultural relations, expanding knowledge, and enhancing creative production, making this center a unifying home for cultural pioneers across Iraq.”

President Rashid emphasized the link between cultural depth and national stability, noting that “the strength of our democratic system stems from the richness of culture in society.” He also pointed out that Arab-Kurdish cultural relations are deeply rooted in history, with Kurdish intellectuals and writers historically contributing alongside Arab peers to Iraq’s intellectual and literary growth. “Through this institution, we aim to revive joint cultural activities and restore them to their golden age,” he said.

The President also underlined that Iraq’s ethnic, religious, and cultural diversity is a source of national strength, fostering dialogue and understanding to build a tolerant, harmonious society. He added, “Culture and sound thinking are deterrents against extremism and hatred, forming the foundation for values of love and harmony.”

Concluding his remarks, President Rashid urged citizens to actively participate in the upcoming elections and exercise their right to freely choose their representatives.
