Iraqi FM Says Erbil-Baghdad Talks Near Agreement on Revenues and Salaries
Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein said on Saturday that ongoing discussions between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the federal government have made “good progress” and are close to reaching an agreement.
Speaking to reporters, Hussein noted that a shared understanding is expected “in the coming days” on the issue of non-oil revenues.
The problem is not only between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government, or between the KRG and the oil companies
Hussein said.
It is a tripartite issue, and we expect an agreement between the federal government, the Kurdistan Regional Government, and the oil companies in the coming days
Hussein said.
On the issue of salaries, Hussein expressed optimism that the committees tasked with resolving the disputes will finalize their work within two days. Their reports, he said, will be submitted to the Council of Ministers on Tuesday.
It will be a positive report, because the decision will be made in light of these reports
He added.
