Iraqi National Security Advisor Qasim al-Araji stated that the committee formed by the Iraqi prime minister to investigate the drone attacks on the Kurdistan Region’s economic infrastructure has submitted its report, which details the parties identified behind the attacks.

Al-Araji noted that the committee visited the areas targeted by drones and submitted their report, signed by all members of the committee.

He added that the report identified those responsible for the attacks and outlined measures to prevent such incidents from happening again.

However, al-Araji declined to name the attackers or specify whether the strikes originated from Iraqi territory or outside Iraq, saying all information was included in the report.

Hoshyar Zebari, a member of the Political Bureau of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), said on Friday that there were 38 drone strikes in the Kurdistan Region in July, but the government has not dared to name the perpetrators.

In late July, al-Araji visited the Kurdistan Region, where KRG Interior Minister Rebar Ahmed held a press conference with him to announce the formation of a new joint committee to clarify the facts and identify the parties responsible. Ahmed expressed hope that al-Araji’s presence would bring positive results.

At the time, al-Araji stressed: “Any attack on economic interests will harm the economy of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region,” highlighting that “the security forces have good capacity, and the committee was formed to address several points.”

The Kurdistan Region faced a wave of drone attacks in July targeting oil fields—including Khormala, Sarsing, Peshkhabour, and others—which disrupted normal production capacity. The KRG strongly condemned the strikes, describing them as deliberate attempts to damage the Region’s economic and energy infrastructure. It warned of losses to oil production and called on the federal government in Baghdad to fulfill its constitutional duty by preventing further attacks, protecting infrastructure, and holding those responsible accountable.
