The official media of the New Generation Movement has announced that the party will take part in the process of forming Iraq’s new government, even though its leader remains in prison.

The movement reiterated that “their participation in government will continue regardless of the current situation of their leader,” emphasizing that political engagement cannot be halted.

Four Main Promises to Citizens

The New Generation Movement pledged four key commitments to the people of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region:

  • Salary Payments: All salaries of public employees and retirees in the Kurdistan Region will be disbursed through banks, putting an end to the long-standing delays in payments.
  • New Kurdish Representatives in Baghdad: They will ensure that “the same old Kurdish representatives will not return to Baghdad,” and will push for new Kurdish representation in both the Iraqi Parliament and government.
  • Marriage Allowance: A marriage grant will be provided to all young people.
  • Loans and Housing Support:
  • Small and medium-sized project loans for graduates and entrepreneurs.
  • Housing allowances for all tenants in the Kurdistan Region.

All loans and allowances will be implemented through the Iraqi government and Iraqi banks.

Political Standing of the New Generation Movement

Currently, the New Generation Movement holds nine parliamentary seats in Iraq and fifteen in the Kurdistan Region. Its MPs have taken the legal oath, but “parliamentary leadership has yet to be established, leaving parliament inactive.”
