The disbursement of the July salaries of the Kurdistan Region public sector will be delayed until Tuesday due to the busy payment of salaries of Iraqi employees and cash problems in banks, according to the Iraqi sources who spoke to Channel8.

There are two main reasons behind the delay: the Iraqi Ministry of Finance is busy distributing the September salaries of its employees, which began on the 21st of September.

Another reason is the liquidity problems; namely, the shortage of cash in banks has delayed the financing process.

KRG Ready to Distribute Once Funds Arrive

In the meantime, the Ministry of Finance and Economy of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has made all preparations and said that when the money arrives, the same list from June will be used, and within three days, the salaries of all employees will be distributed.

Oil Export Agreement Reached

The KRG, the Iraqi government, and oil companies reached a tripartite agreement on oil exports from the Kurdistan Region, which was formally announced and signed on September 25.

As the exports restarted after being halted since March 25, 2023, the Kurdistan Regional Government expects it will resolve the issue of salaries and monthly distributions on time.

Government Expects Stability in Payments

The government stressed that after the agreement, there should be stability in disbursing financial entitlements, and the employees of the Region should no longer be deprived of receiving their salaries on time, equal to the employees of other parts of Iraq.

The Kurdistan Region received six salaries for this year so far, with other months pending.
