US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff have departed for Egypt to resume talks on Gaza peace and hostage release scheduled for Sunday and Monday.

A White House official told AFP that the purpose of Kushner and Witkoff’s visit to Cairo is to discuss details of the hostage release process in line with President Trump’s Gaza plan.

According to Egypt’s official state media, Hamas and Israel will hold indirect talks in Cairo on Sunday and Monday regarding the exchange of hostages and prisoners.

Al-Qahera News, a media outlet close to Egyptian intelligence, quoted a senior security source as saying that both delegations were ready to begin discussions on the terms of a comprehensive exchange in accordance with Trump’s proposal.

Meanwhile, the Israeli delegation expected to attend includes Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer, Prisoners and Missing Persons Coordinator Gal Hirsch, and a senior Mossad official known as “M,” according to Israeli public broadcaster Kan.
