545 kg of Illicit Drugs, 1.28 Tons of Acid Confiscated in Kurdistan Region in 2025
The Kurdistan Region Security Agency said that since the beginning of this year, 545 kilograms of drugs have been seized.
The Directorate of Anti-Narcotics of the Security Agency told Channel8 that 1 ton and 285 kilograms of acid used to make drugs were confiscated in 2025.
The Directorate also revealed that 569 people have been arrested so far.
Kurdistan Region Cracks Down on Drug Trade
The Kurdistan Region, with its relevant authorities, continues efforts to combat drug trafficking, seizing Illicit substances and arresting those involved.
Salam Abdulkhaliq, spokesperson for the Kurdistan Region Security Agency, previously noted the drug trade is rising both locally and globally, while regional consumption has declined.
In addition, the spokesperson stated that the Security Agency has blocked various drug trafficking methods using vigilant teams and advanced technology, noting that most users are young males and that female cases have declined compared to last year.
