Iraqi Prime Minister Stresses Importance of KRI Oil Exports in Meeting with U.S. Company HKN
Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani met with representatives of the U.S. energy company HKN and emphasized the importance of resuming oil exports from the Kurdistan Region, describing it as a key component of Iraq’s national energy strategy.
Sign of Investment Confidence in Iraq
During the meeting, Al-Sudani said that HKN’s ongoing operations reflect growing confidence among foreign investors in Iraq’s stability and investment environment.
The work of American companies such as HKN demonstrates confidence in Iraq’s economic stability and its openness to global investment
Al-Sudani stated.
Strengthening Economic Ties with the United States
The Prime Minister noted that HKN’s activities in several Iraqi regions follow a series of recent agreements signed with other U.S. companies across energy and infrastructure sectors.
These partnerships, he said, contribute to strengthening bilateral economic relations between Baghdad and Washington.
KRI Oil Exports Crucial for Iraq’s Energy Sector
Al-Sudani highlighted HKN’s role in facilitating the completion of the agreement to resume oil exports from the Kurdistan Region through the Iraq–Turkey pipeline (ITP), calling it “essential for the development of Iraq’s energy sector and the fair distribution of revenues.”
The resumption of exports will ensure that all Iraqis benefit from their national resources
he said.
Oil exports from the Kurdistan Region were halted for more than 30 months before the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the federal government reached an agreement on September 25 to resume shipments.
