Kurdistan Region’s Natural Gas Output Rises to 910 Million Cubic Feet Per Day
According to figures, total natural gas production in the Kurdistan Region has reached 910 million cubic feet per day, which is used entirely to provide 24-hour electricity.
Natural gas production is expected to reach 1 billion cubic meters in the first quarter of 2026.
The gas used to generate electricity is dry natural gas from ethane and methane. However, the gas used for households is known as LPG, which is liquefied petroleum gas.
Key Fields Contribute to Regional Power Generation
The Hasira field, located within the Garmian administration, produces around 70 million cubic feet of natural gas per day, supplying the Garmian power plant directly.
Meanwhile, the Khurmala field yields about 90 million cubic feet daily, providing gas for power plants in Duhok under the operation of Kar Company.
Khor Mor Expansion Boosts Output by 50 Percent
Dana Gas and Crescent Petroleum announced last week in October that they have commenced commercial gas sales from the Khor Mor Field Expansion Project (KM250).
The project has increased gas production capacity by 50%, with an additional 250 million cubic feet added to previous production, bringing the field’s total output to 750 million cubic feet per day.
Dana Gas and Crescent Petroleum will produce 1,090 tons of LPG per day from the Khor Mor field, which will be distributed to all provinces and autonomous administrations of the Kurdistan Region.
