Iraqi Cabinet Approves Disbursement of August Salaries for Kurdistan Region Employees
The Iraqi cabinet decided to disburse the August salaries for the Kurdistan Region public sector employees, following the transfer of 120 billion dinars in non-oil revenues by the Kurdistan Region.
Channel8 correspondent in Baghdad reported that Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani instructed Finance Minister Taif Sami during the cabinet session to disburse the payment.
Channel8 has learned that at the end of this week or early next week, the salary will be deposited into the account of the Ministry of Finance.
Transfer From Sulaymaniyah Completes Required Revenue Amount
The decision comes as today 48 billion dinars from Sulaymaniyah’s domestic revenues were transferred to Erbil, completing the 140 billion, and the KRG Ministry of Finance and Economy then transferred the funds to the Central Bank of Iraq (CBI) in Erbil.
Only Three Months of Salaries Expected This Year
With the August disbursements, however, other months remain pending.
Earlier, a senior source in the KRG Council of Ministers told Channel8 that the Iraqi government will disburse a maximum of three additional salaries for the current year, covering August, September, and October, with no payments expected for November and December.
Revenue-Sharing Dispute Remains Unresolved
With salary pay, Erbil and Baghdad have yet to agree on the issues of revenue sharing. Yesterday, al-Sudani stated that they are working to resolve it to ensure uninterrupted payments for KRG employees.
