The representative of the Returned Refugees from Europe Association has issued a stark warning about the deteriorating conditions faced by more than 500 Kurdish migrants stranded in Libya, Tunisia, and Lebanon. Many of them are children and are enduring extremely unstable and dangerous circumstances.

Details of the Migrants’ Situation
Peshraw Abdullah, the spokesperson for the Returned Refugees from Europe Association, stated in an interview with Channel8 that 540 migrants from the Kurdistan Region, most of them from the Raparin administrative border, have been trapped in the three countries mentioned. He highlighted the following points:

• A large number of these migrants have been arrested and imprisoned.
• Disease has spread within the detention centers, and detainees are given only one meal per day.
• In eastern Libya, 41 Kurdish migrants have had their passports confiscated by smugglers, who are now demanding ransom for their release.

 Child Migrants at Risk
Abdullah emphasized that a significant portion of these migrants are underage, between 13 and 15 years old. He also noted that the European Union has been informed about this alarming situation.

General Migration Statistics
The representative revealed that over 4 million migrants from various countries, including Sudan, Congo, Syria, and Western Kurdistan, are currently in Libya, Tunisia, and Lebanon, hoping to reach Europe via the Mediterranean Sea.

According to official statistics since the beginning of this year:

• 42,000 people have migrated from Libya to Italy.
• 6,700 have reached Greece.
• 19,000 have been arrested along Libya’s coast and returned.
• 24,000 have crossed from Turkey to Greece, while 8,000 have been deported from Turkish maritime borders.
