KRG Receives 945 Billion Dinars for August Salaries
The Ministry of Finance and Economy of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) announced on Sunday that 945.8 billion dinars have been deposited for the payment of August salaries to government employees.
In an official statement, the ministry confirmed that the amount — 945,817,000,000 dinars — has been allocated to fund the salaries of civil servants, teachers, and pensioners across the Kurdistan Region. The ministry is expected to release the full distribution schedule later today.
Finance Ministry Confirms Transfer
The announcement comes shortly after Iraqi Finance Minister Taif Sami signed the remittance order authorizing the payment. According to Channel8’s Baghdad correspondent, the funds were transferred to the Central Bank’s Erbil branch on Friday, but due to public holidays, the process was finalized on Sunday.
A source within the KRG Ministry of Finance said all employees are expected to receive their August salaries by the end of this week.
Preparing the October Payroll
Meanwhile, KRG officials in Sulaymaniyah are finalizing the October salary list, which will be sent to Baghdad later this week for review and approval. A technical and financial delegation from the region is expected to travel to Baghdad to oversee the audit process.
Modern Payroll System
The KRG’s salary data is now managed through an integrated payroll system that compiles information from 429 accounting units in Erbil, 421 in Sulaymaniyah, and 301 in Duhok. The data is shared online with the Iraqi Ministry of Finance to streamline salary distribution and ensure transparency.
The latest transfer marks another step in the coordination between Baghdad and Erbil on the disbursement of KRG public sector salaries, following months of financial negotiations and technical reviews.
