Extensive Security Presence in Erbil's Lajan and Khabat Remains After Protests
The situation in Lajan village and Khabat town has not yet fully returned to normal, as the extensive deployment of security forces is ongoing, despite last night's assurances that the forces would withdraw and efforts would be made to stabilize the situation.
Channel8 correspondent in Erbil reported on Tuesday that the security forces, accompanied by armed vehicles and Humvees, remain in place, with checkpoints established in the village.
At the same time, security personnel in civilian clothing continue to be present in Khabat, with no withdrawal observed.
According to Channel8 reporters, a large number of the forces have been stationed in different public places in the town and are constantly monitoring and arresting anyone who acts suspiciously.

Meetings and Government Commitments
Last night, following the evacuation of women, children, and residents of Lajan due to the danger and the positioning of a large force to arrest the wanted individuals, several representatives of the Harki in the Ministry of Interior met with representatives of the village.
Additionally, Erbil Governor Omed Xoshnaw visited Lajan.
Meetings Agree on Actions and 48-Hour Deadline
The meetings decided to form a committee of inquiry, release the detainees, withdraw the security forces, and implement the villagers' demands to be employed by Lanaz Company. A 48-hour deadline was set for the implementation of these points.
Protests and Clashes Over Employment and Refineries
The people of Lajan began demonstrations on November 27, calling for the government to employ the local people or close the refineries in the area.
Clashes kill one and lead to arrests of villagers and PUK Official
As a result of the tensions and clashes that erupted between protesters and security forces on Saturday, one person was killed and several wounded by security personnel.
Meanwhile, Six villagers of the village and the head of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan committee in Khabat have been arrested.
