Turkey’s annual inflation eased more than anticipated in December, closing 2025 at 30.89%, according to official figures released Monday.

Data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) showed the consumer price index (CPI) declined from 31.07% in November. On a monthly basis, inflation rose 0.89%, slightly under market expectations.

Forecasts had pointed to higher figures: a Reuters poll projected annual inflation at 31% and monthly inflation at 0.98%, while an Anadolu Agency survey last week also anticipated a 31% annual rate.

Education costs led the annual surge with a 66.27% increase, followed by housing at 49.45%, TurkStat reported.

Meanwhile, the domestic producer price index climbed 0.75% in December, bringing its annual rise to 27.67%.
