Following a Cabinet meeting in Ankara, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared Turkey’s support for initiatives that strengthen peace and stability in Syria while safeguarding its territorial and political integrity.

“For us, any step that contributes to peace and stability in Syria and that guarantees Syria’s territorial integrity and political unity is reasonable and acceptable,” he said in his national address.

Erdogan emphasized that recent agreements mark “a new chapter for the Syrian people,” warning that any attempt to undermine progress would be met with firm resistance.

He reiterated Turkey’s desire for its neighbor to achieve domestic peace swiftly:

“As Turkey, we sincerely want our neighbor Syria to restore domestic peace as soon as possible.”

The president stressed that Ankara’s broader vision is rooted in regional solidarity, reconciliation, and security. He cautioned that instability beyond Turkey’s borders directly threatens its own safety:

“If there is fire, conflict, or war beyond our borders, Turkey cannot feel secure.”

Underscoring the principle of unity, Erdogan called for resolving Syria’s crisis on the basis of “one army, one state, and one Syria.” He vowed that Turkey would stand firm against “merchants of blood who fuel conflict, invest in tension, and disregard human life.”

The remarks come amid developments in Hasakah, where Syrian Interior Ministry forces entered the city under a ceasefire and integration agreement with the YPG. The deal aims to merge local institutions with those of Damascus, absorbing employees into the state payroll.

Meanwhile, Syrian military operations against YPG/SDF forces west of the Euphrates have expanded eastward with tribal support, resulting in significant territorial gains for Damascus.
