US President Donald Trump’s lead Iran negotiators, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, visited the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier in the Arabian Sea on Saturday, the US military’s Central Command (CENTCOM) announced.

In a social media post, Witkoff praised the nuclear-powered vessel and its strike group for “keeping us safe and upholding President Trump’s message of peace through strength.”

The visit comes as Washington and Tehran prepare for further negotiations. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said he hoped talks would resume soon, while stressing Tehran’s red lines and warning against any US attack.

The two sides held a first round of indirect talks in Oman on Friday, which Araghchi described as “a good start.” Trump also called the discussions “very good.”

The USS Abraham Lincoln was deployed to the Middle East in January amid Trump’s escalating threats against Iran following its crackdown on anti-government protests.

Friday’s negotiations marked the first engagement since nuclear talks collapsed last year, after Israel’s unprecedented bombing campaign against Iran triggered a 12-day war. During that conflict, US warplanes struck Iranian nuclear sites.
