A technical and security delegation from the Damascus government's Ministry of Interior arrived at Qamishlo International Airport on Saturday via a civilian aircraft to coordinate the reopening and resumption of operations.

The delegation held meetings with Internal Security Forces and airport officials.

This flight marks the first passenger aircraft to land at the airport since Bashar al-Assad's fall from power.

Coordination Management Under SDF-Damascus Agreement

Under an agreement between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and Damascus, the airport is in transition to Syrian government control.

Key operational responsibilities are being transferred to state civil aviation authorities, while coordination with the Autonomous Administration continues.

Earlier this month, on the 8th, a delegation from the Autonomous Administration's Internal Security Forces met with representatives from Damascus security authorities in Hasakah.

Assessing Airport Operations and Facilitating Coordination

The recent meeting in Qamishlo aimed to assess the airport's administrative, technical, and security situation and to facilitate coordination among relevant parties for its reopening
