Reza Pahlavi, son of Iran’s last Shah and currently based in the United States, criticized the newly announced alliance of Kurdish parties in Iranian Kurdistan.

He emphasized that “the territorial integrity of Iran is a red line” and warned that any attempt to cross it would face a unified response.

Pahlavi also suggested that the Iranian army must fulfill its “national duty” against separatist movements once the Islamic Republic collapses.

In response, Abdullah Mohtadi, Secretary-General of Komala of Kurdistan of Iran, rejected Pahlavi’s remarks, stating that Pahlavi is threatening Kurds with an army that does not yet exist.

Mohtadi argued that such rhetoric only fuels division and hostility among Iran’s diverse communities. He reminded Pahlavi that “his father and grandfather, despite all their power, could not erase the Kurdish nation, and neither can he.”

This exchange comes shortly after five major Kurdish parties (PAK, PJAK, PDKI, Khabat, and Komala) formally announced a political alliance on February 22, 2026, aimed at coordinating their future strategies.
