Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), received a phone call from Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, emphasizing dialogue and "peaceful solutions" to protect stability in the region.

Both parties discussed the ongoing conflict and recent military developments.

Talabani stressed the importance of “peaceful solutions to problems and returning to dialogue to preserve stability in the Middle East."

The PUK president noted that the party is making every effort in this regard.

During the call, Araghchi "thanked President Bafel for his role and influence in preserving the stability of Iran," acknowledging the PUK's "peaceful stance" in the region.

He highlighted that both parties will maintain ongoing communication.

U.S. and Israel Strike Iran as Iran Responds

The call comes amid heightened tensions and ongoing confrontations in the region between the United States and Israel on one side and Iran on the other, following the halt of nuclear negotiations and the failure to reach an agreement.

Over the weekend, the U.S. and Israel conducted a coordinated operation, employing air and missile strikes aimed at Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs, as well as naval assets.

Meanwhile, Iran launched Operation True Promise 4, utilizing ballistic missiles and "suicide" drones to target U.S. and Israeli interests across the Middle East.

PUK Ready to Promote Stability in Iraq

The PUK's Political Bureau convened yesterday, during which Talabani said the party is prepared to mobilize what it described as its “extensive and effective relations” to support peace, stability, and development in Iraq and the broader region.

In the wake of the conflict, Talabani also underlined that they “continue to believe that only dialogue and responsible leadership can prevent further suffering and help foster lasting stability in our region.”
