Extensive Newroz Celebrations Underway in Diyarbakir, Qandil, and Rojava

Today, extensive Newroz celebrations are being held in Diyarbakir (Amed), Qandil Mountain, and Qamishlo, with invitations extended to citizens to participate in the festivities.

Diyarbakir Newroz Event to Feature Message from Parties and Leaders

In Diyarbakir, a message from Abdullah Ocalan, leader of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), will be read during the event. 

Additionally, speeches will be delivered by Kurdish politician Leyla Zana and officials from the People’s Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party. Messages from various political parties will also be announced.

Qandil Mountains Preparations Complete 

Preparations for the commemoration in the Qandil Mountains are complete. Aram Husein, Co-chair of the Qandil Mountains People's Assembly, announced that the celebration will take place on March 21st.

“We are now in a period of peace, and we encourage our people to participate broadly. All necessary arrangements have been finalized,” he noted.

Major Events Planned in Qamishlo and Amuda

In Western Kurdistan (Rojava), although some celebrations were postponed due to rain, plans remain for major public events at Qamishlo’s stadium and in Amuda. The organizing committee stated that if the rain persists, the celebrations may be postponed.
