A strike in western Iraq on Tuesday resulted in the death of a commander and 14 members of the Hashed al-Shaabi, according to a statement from the group.
The announcement updated the casualty count and placed responsibility on the United States.
The Hashed al-Shaabi, also known as the Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF), reported that its fighters were killed in a "treacherous American attack that targeted the operation headquarters" in Anbar province. The group had initially reported seven fatalities before revising the figure.
Although the PMF has been formally integrated into Iraq’s regular armed forces, it continues to include factions with close ties to Iran.
