The Director General of Health in Sulaymaniyah has announced that approval has been received from the Ministry of Finance for medicine procurement, expressing hope that supplies will arrive as soon as possible, while assuring the public that all essential hospital supplies remain available and uninterrupted.

Causes of the Medicine Shortage

Dr. Sabah Hawrami, Director General of Health in Sulaymaniyah, explained at a press conference that the medicine shortage stems from a combination of factors, including an insufficient procurement budget, a cash shortage in banks, and delays in receiving approval from the Ministry of Finance for medicine purchases.

Sulaymaniyah's Medical Services Incomparable

Dr. Hawrami affirmed that the medical services provided in Sulaymaniyah are of a high standard and unmatched by any other city in Kurdistan or Iraq. He noted, however, that the number of available beds is low relative to the volume of patients, attributing this to the significant influx of patients traveling from other cities to Sulaymaniyah specifically to receive medical care.

Investigation into Ghazal Mawlan's Case Ongoing

On the investigation into the case of Ghazal Mawlan, the female Peshmerga of the Komala Party of Kurdistan who was killed in a drone attack, Dr. Hawrami confirmed that the investigation is ongoing. He stated that legal action will be taken against anyone found negligent, adding that health centers will provide necessary and basic treatment to every patient who arrives, after which the relevant police station is notified to pursue legal proceedings.
