New District Governors Appointed in Kirkuk, Daquq, and Qara Hanjir
The new district governors (Qaimaqam) of Kirkuk, Daquq, and Qara Hanjir took office on Monday. The appointed District Governor of the city, Avesta Shex Mohammed, stressed that the administrative reshuffles were "a courageous step” and vowed to serve citizens and respect the rights and demands of all communities.
The administrative restructuring of the province follows the Kirkuk Provincial Council’s decision to appoint Mohammed Samaan as the new governor on April 16.
Avesta Shex Mohammed was sworn in today as the new District Governor, succeeding Turkmen Falah Yaychili.
Kurdish Leadership Assumes Posts
The administration of Daquq has transitioned to Kurdish leadership following the appointment of Adnan Hussein, who succeeds Sarajeddin Nazim in the post.
Additionally, the position of Qara Hanjir has been transferred from Avestha Shexh Mohammed to Awarah Shex Ahmed, who has now assumed office as the new District Governor.
New Kirkuk Administrator Emphasizes Serving All Communities Equally
The elected Kirkuk District Governor told Channel8 that Bafel Jalal Talabani, president of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, has “proven in practice" the intention of the party for brotherhood and unity among all communities.
“This is the first time such an initiative has taken place,” Mohammed noted, adding that they will follow the path of late President Mam Jalal (former Iraq President) in upholding the rights of all nations.
“We consider ourselves in the service of all of Kirkuk and its people, without distinction between ethnicities," he added.
Mohammed further called on his colleagues to serve the people of the city with the same spirit.
