Despite economic pressures and the ongoing financial crisis, the provinces of Sulaymaniyah and Halabja, along with their autonomous administrations, are witnessing the implementation of dozens of service projects worth hundreds of billions of dinars aimed at serving citizens.

Development of Tourism and Service Sectors in Sulaymaniyah

In the center of Sulaymaniyah, work is continuing on the creation of a waterfront zone in Qilyasan and Sarchinar known as Suli Corniche. These projects aim to restore the historical and tourism significance of the areas so they can once again become major attractions for visitors from across Iraq.

At the same time, several road projects linking the city center to 100-Metre Street, along with the renovation of major streets, are also ongoing.

Completion of Major Infrastructure Projects

One of the most notable service projects in Sulaymaniyah is the Tofiq Wahbi Bridge, which was completed at a cost exceeding 10 billion dinars. The project succeeded in resolving traffic congestion in the southern section of Malik Mahmoud Ring Road.

Connecting Sulaymaniyah With Autonomous Administrations

Strategic projects outside the city are also progressing significantly. Work is intensifying on the Dukan-Ranya road to convert it into a dual carriageway. Meanwhile, the Darbandikhan-Zarayan dualization project has begun, forming the longest route connecting a province with an autonomous administration.

In addition, the Darbandikhan-Kalar and Kalar-Kifri roads have been completed, transforming the Garmian administration and making transportation easier for residents.

Modern Projects in Halabja and Garmian

In Halabja, a modern dual carriageway road is in its final stages and has already been opened to traffic. In the center of Kalar, dozens of reconstruction projects are underway, significantly changing the appearance of the city. These projects come in response to accusations regarding the lack of services in the area.

Facing Economic and Political Pressure

These developments are taking place while the region faces intense economic and political pressure. On one side, public sector hiring has been restricted, while on the other, efforts continue to damage the region’s image through various accusations.

Nevertheless, the continued operation of construction machinery across different areas and the implementation of projects worth hundreds of billions of dinars reflect the region’s resilience and determination to continue serving its citizens despite ongoing challenges.
