Kurdish Ranks Among the World's Leading Living Languages
The Kurdish language ranks among the leading living languages in the world. It has 900,000 recognized words, and according to global language rankings, Kurdish surpasses the majority of official and well-known languages in terms of vocabulary richness and the number of dialects spoken.
Several criteria are used to evaluate any language, including the number of words in use, word formation, meaning the use of multiple words for one subject with the same meaning, and the dialects spoken. By all these measures, Kurdish currently ranks 8th in the world among living languages, with 900,000 recognized words.
In terms of speakers, more than 40 million people around the world speak Kurdish in its various dialects, including Kurmanji, Sorani, Zazaki, Gorani, and it has more than 50 sub-dialects.
The Kurds are considered the largest stateless nation in the world, possessing a vast homeland and a living language, yet to this day they have not achieved their own independent state.
