The Nineveh Health Directorate also said that veterinary teams have been placed on alert and are carrying out cleaning and disinfection campaigns as a precaution to prevent the spread of the disease, especially ahead of the Eid al-Adha holidays.

Previous Cases Reported Across Iraq

The Iraqi Ministry of Health previously announced that since the beginning of the year, 48 cases of Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever have been recorded, along with four deaths.

The ministry also called for the extermination of ticks and parasites, which it identifies as the main cause of transmission of the disease from animals to humans.

Last year, 296 cases were recorded in Iraq, resulting in 42 deaths.
