Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi Orders Investigation into Government Contracts
Ali Faleh al-Zaidi, the Prime Minister of Iraq, has ordered an investigation into contracts involving several ministries and government institutions. This comes within the framework of the “Anti-Corruption Campaign.”
Beginning of Investigations into Key Contracts
Zaidi’s office announced that, in line with the government’s program and within the framework of the anti-corruption initiative aimed at protecting public assets, the Prime Minister directed the relevant oversight bodies and law enforcement authorities to begin investigations into several important contracts previously signed by ministries and government agencies.
Purpose of the Investigations
It was emphasized that the purpose of these investigations is to determine whether the contracts comply with laws and regulations, and whether they uphold public rights and interests.
Initial Step to Expose Irregularities and Responsible Parties
Zaidi’s office described this move as the “initial step” toward exposing “any irregularities and identifying those responsible for any misconduct or misuse of public funds, as well as revealing individuals who profited from these contracts at the expense of public interest.”
Submitting Results to Judicial Authorities
Ali Faleh al-Zaidi also ordered that the results of the investigations be promptly submitted to the relevant judicial authorities, with the aim of protecting public assets, arresting those involved in such manipulations, and prosecuting them in court.
