The Iraqi Ministry of Trade has introduced a series of strict measures for receiving this year’s wheat harvest, aimed at protecting farmers’ rights and ensuring the success of the marketing plan.

Wheat Transportation Between Provinces Prohibited

The Iraqi Ministry of Trade held its first meeting dedicated to receiving this year’s wheat harvest. Haider al-Garaawi, Director-General of Grain Trading, announced that strict measures and intensified monitoring will be enforced at checkpoints to prevent the buying, selling, or transportation of wheat between provinces.

The decision is intended to protect the marketing plan and ensure fairness in the crop-receiving process.

Facilitations for Farmers and Reduced Congestion

The Directorate General of Grain Trading stated that full facilitations will be provided to farmers during wheat delivery procedures.

This measure aims to reduce overcrowding and accelerate the processing of official transactions, ensuring that the best possible services are provided to farmers delivering their crops to grain silos.

Commitment to Quality and Laboratory Testing

The meeting stressed the importance of full compliance with laboratory testing procedures. Al-Garaawi noted that all wheat received must undergo comprehensive testing to ensure it meets the required quality standards before being stored in warehouses.

Daily Monitoring of Marketing Operations

The Ministry of Trade has also established a plan for daily field monitoring across all provinces.

These follow-up measures are intended to directly oversee marketing operations, support farmers, and ensure the success of this year’s wheat marketing season without obstacles or disruptions.
