Sulaymaniyah Chamber of Commerce Exempts Accumulated Debts for Traders and Companies
The Sulaymaniyah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has announced a facilitation measure for traders and company owners, issuing a decision to exempt accumulated debts from previous years.
Details of the Debt Exemption Decision
Nawzad Ghafour, President of the Sulaymaniyah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, announced in a press conference that a decision has been made to exempt accumulated debts for Chamber members who have been in arrears for several years.
According to the decision, members who owe debts only for the year 2025 will be exempted from those dues and will only be required to pay the 2026 membership ID fees.
In addition, members who owe debts for multiple years will only be charged fees for the years 2025 and 2026.
Sectors Included in the Decision
This measure by the Chamber of Commerce applies to all membership IDs in the industrial, commercial, and company sectors.
The Chamber president noted that the decision does not currently include membership IDs for real estate buying and selling offices, as a separate decision is expected to be issued for that sector in the near future.
Duration and Conditions for Benefiting from the Exemption
The debt exemption process for companies and traders began on June 1 and will continue until November 30, 2026.
If traders do not renew their membership IDs within this period, anyone seeking renewal after the deadline will be required to pay all accumulated debts and fees in full for previous years.
Penalties for Not Renewing Chamber Membership IDs
According to the Chamber’s new regulations, if any member fails to renew their membership ID for a period of four years, the ID will be permanently canceled.
In the event of cancellation, if the owner wishes to reissue the ID, they will be required to pay all past taxes, fees, and debts without any exemption.
The Chamber of Commerce has therefore urged its members to take advantage of this opportunity to settle their outstanding dues.
