Kata'ib Hezbollah in Iraq has fiercely rejected any government-led disarmament efforts, declaring that the militant faction will not surrender so much as "a single pistol bullet" to state authorities.

In a defiant statement issued by the group’s security official, Abu Mujahid al-Assaf, the faction vowed to sustain its armed "resistance" indefinitely. Al-Assaf tied any future talks of disarmament strictly to the total elimination of foreign interference and the full restoration of Iraqi sovereignty.

Warning Against "American Traps"

Al-Assaf directed a stern warning to political stakeholders and media outlets, cautioning them against "falling into an American trap" designed to weaken Iraq's paramilitary networks. He urged public figures and journalists to block Western strategic objectives from gaining ground in the country.

Addressing the ongoing domestic push to disarm and restructure elements of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF/Hashd al-Shaabi), the security official dismissed external political oversight. Al-Assaf asserted that while restructuring or surrendering weapons might be an internal matter for other specific factions—provided they actually commit to it fully rather than dragging out the process every few months, Kata'ib Hezbollah's defensive posture remains non-negotiable.

Armed Mandate Tied to Sovereignty and Religious Prophecy

The group reaffirmed its tight operational unity with the Karbala Brigades, emphasizing that their joint military apparatus will remain active. According to al-Assaf, their armed mandate persists as long as there is "the occupation of Iraqi land, the violation of its airspace, and the hijacking of its political decision-making."

The commander underscored that any conversation regarding the restructuring or integration of their arsenal would only be entertained after what he termed the total liberation of the country. Even under those circumstances, al-Assaf maintained that the group alone would dictate the fate of its weaponry.

In a distinct ideological assertion closing the statement, the security official proclaimed that Kata'ib Hezbollah would never hand its arms over to the secular government, stating their weapons would ultimately only be surrendered to the "Imam al-Qa'im"—a reference to Muhammad al-Mahdi, the revered Twelfth Imam in Shia Islam.
