Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani marked World Environment Day with a message highlighting environmental protection and climate action as a shared responsibility, stressing the need for collective efforts across institutions, families, and authorities to safeguard nature and ensure a sustainable future.

Message of Appreciation

On World Environment Day, Barzani extended his greetings and appreciation to "all environmentalists, organizations, and relevant authorities in the Kurdistan Region who work dedicatedly to protect the beautiful nature and environment of our country.”

Shared Responsibility for Environmental Protection

He stressed that “protecting the environment and confronting the impacts of climate change is not solely a government duty; rather, it is a major shared national and humanitarian responsibility.”

In this context, he further stated that “it is the duty of all of us, in educational centers, families, media, and institutions, to work together to spread an environmental culture and reduce the threats facing our country's nature.”

Cooperation with Iraq and the International Community

Barzani reaffirmed the Kurdistan Region "remains committed to cooperation and joint action with the Federal Iraqi Government and the international community to take the necessary measures to protect natural resources and ensure a healthy environment and a better future for our upcoming generations.”
