KRG Deputy PM Qubad Talabani and Greek Deputy Foreign Minister Agree to Strengthen Trade Corridors
Kurdistan Region Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani met with Greece’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Harry Theoharis, to discuss strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing economic collaboration across multiple sectors.
The diplomatic engagement underscores the growing prominence of the Delphi Forum Slemani, an emergent regional summit hosted in the Kurdistan Region’s cultural capital on June 6–7. Now in its second year, the conference serves as a critical junction for European-Middle Eastern economic alignment.
According to an official statement released by the Deputy Prime Minister, the primary focus of the diplomatic exchange was to establish a structured framework for joint development between the Kurdistan Region and Greece.
"We discussed establishing coordination for joint efforts between the Kurdistan Region and Greece in the sectors of agriculture, tourism, and trade," Talabani stated following the meeting.
The discussions reflect the Kurdistan Regional Government's (KRG) ongoing efforts to expand its international partnership network and diversify its economy through strategic European relationships. Delegations at the summit noted that the focus on agriculture, tourism, and trade aligns with regional initiatives to boost non-oil revenue streams and foster private-sector investment.
The Delphi Forum Slemani has drawn a large contingent of international diplomats, business leaders, and regional officials, serving as a prominent platform to explore strategic investments and bolster diplomatic ties between the Kurdistan Region and the international community.
