PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani, Former Turkish PM Davutoglu Discuss Regional Tensions and KRG Cabinet Formation

Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), received Ahmed Davutoglu, former Prime Minister of Turkey and leader of the Future Party, in Dabashan, Sulaymaniyah, where the two sides discussed regional developments, political challenges and efforts to promote stability.

The meeting was attended by Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region.

According to a statement released by the PUK President's press office, discussions focused on the situation across the region and ongoing tensions, with both sides emphasizing the importance of dialogue, mutual understanding, and cooperation in addressing challenges.

Sulaymaniyah-Turkey Relations

The meeting also addressed relations between Sulaymaniyah Governorate and Türkiye, with the participants discussing ways to further strengthen cooperation and ties.

KRG and Iraqi Government Formation

Political developments in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq were among the key topics discussed.

Talabani and Davutoglu reviewed the process of forming the next Kurdistan Regional Government cabinet and the obstacles that continue to delay its formation. They also exchanged views on efforts to form Iraq's next federal government.

Support for Peace Process

The two leaders reaffirmed their support for the peace process and stressed the importance of pursuing peaceful solutions to regional issues, according to the statement.
