Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani offered condolences on the passing of Rudaw's correspondent and Baghdad bureau chief Halkawt Aziz, praising him as a dedicated journalist who contributed significantly to the field of media.
Aziz succumbed to severe injuries on Monday following a traffic accident on the highway connecting Baghdad and Basra.
Senior government officials, political leaders, and media organizations across the Kurdistan Region have issued official condolences, widely commending the late Journalist for his professionalism and dedication.

"On the passing of the media professional and head of the Rudaw Media Network's Baghdad office, the late Halkawt Aziz, who unfortunately lost his life in a tragic traffic accident, I extend my condolences to his family, loved ones, and colleagues," Barzani said in a statement.
Barzani noted that Aziz was "a skilled, dedicated, and active journalist who made great contributions to the field of media."
"I ask the Almighty to bless his soul with His mercy and kindness and grant peace and comfort to all," he added.
