President Amedi Urges National Unity and Stronger Security Coordination in Al-Araji Meeting
Iraqi President Nizar Amedi met with National Security Adviser Qasim al-Araji at Baghdad Palace on Wednesday, stressing the importance of enhancing institutional coordination to safeguard national policies, protect citizens, and address future challenges.
The Iraqi Presidency issued a statement Wednesday noting that President Amedi and the National Security Adviser reviewed the country's overall security landscape and ongoing efforts to reinforce political and security stability.
“President Amedi underscored the importance of strengthening coordination and integration among security institutions in support of national security policies,” the statement noted.
President Amedi Pushes for Comprehensive National Vision
He emphasized safeguarding citizens’ interests and “advancing a comprehensive national vision capable of addressing current requirements and future challenges.”
The President further urged consolidating national unity and political cooperation to preserve recent security gains, stability, and development.
Al-Araji Presents National Security Strategy
Al-Araji presented the National Security Advisory's upcoming framework to enhance institutional efficiency and streamline communication with relevant state authorities. The initiative is designed to reinforce national defense capabilities and lock in recent political and security gains.
Iraq Reaffirms Sovereignty and Rejects Use of Its Territory
The meeting comes as the country navigates ongoing efforts to bring weapons under state control and mitigate regional security threats.
Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi chaired an emergency meeting of the Ministerial Council for National Security on Monday to assess regional developments, their domestic impact, and precautionary plans to preserve internal stability.
The officials reaffirmed Iraq’s “national sovereignty, the restriction of arms to the state authority, and accountability for all those who undermine security and stability. It also reiterated Iraq’s firm position rejecting the use of Iraqi territory or airspace as a launching ground for attacks against neighboring countries.”
