Kurdistan Region Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani received Faramarz Asadi, the Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Erbil, in a meeting focused on regional developments, Iraq-Kurdistan relations, and the internal political situation of the Kurdistan Region.

Regional Developments and Iran-U.S. Talks

During the meeting, which took place on Wednesday, both sides exchanged views on a range of issues of mutual interest, with particular attention to the latest regional developments.

Talabani expressed hope that ongoing negotiations between the U.S. and Iran would produce a desirable outcome for all parties, adding that such progress could contribute to permanent peace and stability in the region.

Iraq-Kurdistan Relations and Government Formation

The discussions also covered the political situation in Iraq and the formation of the new federal government. Talabani expressed optimism that a favorable opportunity has emerged to resolve outstanding issues between Erbil and Baghdad.

He stressed that, during this phase, Erbil and Baghdad must cooperate, coordinate closely, and work together to advance economic development, improve public services, and enhance the overall well-being of citizens.

Internal Political Situation in the Kurdistan Region

In another part of the meeting, the internal political landscape of the Kurdistan Region was reviewed. Talabani emphasized the need to intensify efforts to break the current political deadlock.

He also called for the resumption of dialogue between political parties, underlining the importance of forming a new government based on genuine partnership among all sides.
