Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that the Islamabad MOU with Washington is pending finalization, stressing that media outlets should refrain from speculating about its content.

“The Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding has never been closer. Pending its finalization, the media should refrain from entering speculation about its content,” Araghchi said in a statement on Friday, after U.S. President Donald Trump earlier today accused Tehran of lacking “good faith” for publishing a draft whose terms bear “no relation to the truth.” 

Araghchi declared that, in line with Iran's stated approach of responsibility and transparency, "all details will be shared with the public in due course.”

Trump Dismisses Iranian Media Leaks on Proposed Deal 

Details of the U.S.–Iran draft agreement reported by Iranian media reveal a 60-day truce framework designed to stop fighting in Lebanon, suspend oil sanctions, and release $24 billion in frozen Iranian assets under a U.S. naval blockade lift. 

Trump stated the published contents “have NOTHING to do with the terms that were agreed to.” 

Pakistan Brokering Fragile Peace, Indirect Talks and Recent Escalation 

Pakistan has served as the central mediator for the sensitive U.S.–Iran negotiations, conducting intense shuttle diplomacy in Islamabad to carry draft terms back and forth between the two non-communicating delegations. 

This diplomatic effort built upon an initial truce brokered by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on April 7, which successfully halted five weeks of direct military conflict.

The statement comes amid escalating regional tensions and an exchange of military strikes that collapsed the April truce, culminating in Trump halting an attack while condemning a subsequent drone strike against shipping near the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump canceled the scheduled military strikes against Iran yesterday, indicating that indirect diplomatic negotiations have successfully advanced to the highest levels of Tehran's leadership. 

He said that while a comprehensive draft agreement is nearing its final shape for a potential signing ceremony in Europe, any final accord remains subject to absolute verification and approval from all regional partners.
