Ahmet Davutoglu Praises PUK and KDP Leaders, Cites Agreement on Turkmen Governorship in Kirkuk
Ahmet Davutoglu, Chairman of Turkey’s Future Party and former Prime Minister, praised Kurdish leaders for their hospitality and revealed understandings regarding the governance of Kirkuk during his remarks.
Gratitude to Bafel Jalal Talabani and Qubad Talabani
Davutoglu expressed his appreciation for the hospitality extended to him by Bafel Jalal Talabani and Qubad Talabani during the Delphi Economic Forum.
He noted that these relations reflect an ongoing friendship at the highest levels of the Kurdistan Region.
Agreement on Appointing a Turkmen Governor in Kirkuk
In a speech delivered to the “New Path” parliamentary bloc in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Davutoglu detailed discussions he held regarding Kirkuk.
He stated that last year, he requested the then-governor and relevant political factions to appoint a Turkmen governor for Kirkuk.
He further emphasized that, because he has always sought to protect Kurds and has never opposed them, Bafel Jalal Talabani and Qubad Talabani agreed to the appointment of a Turkmen governor for the city.
Relations with Kurdistan Region Leadership
The Future Party leader extended his gratitude beyond PUK leaders, also thanking Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani and Prime Minister Masrour Barzani.
Davutoglu expressed deep appreciation for the reception and hospitality he received during his diplomatic visits to the Kurdistan Region.
