Erbil and Baghdad have taken new steps toward unifying their customs systems, reaching an understanding on joining a shared global network through the ASYCUDA system.

Status of the Agreement Between Erbil and Baghdad

A final and official agreement on the implementation of the ASYCUDA system between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government has not yet been finalized, although discussions have reached an advanced stage.

Signing of the Joint Protocol

Technical delegations from the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad have met to discuss the technical details of the framework and have signed a formal protocol on the ASYCUDA system, forming the basis for the upcoming final agreement.

Consensus on Implementing the System

Both sides have agreed that the Kurdistan Region is fully capable of integrating into the ASYCUDA system.

They have also reached a consensus on this point, with neither party opposing the Region’s participation in the system.

Final Phase and Official Approval

For the agreement to enter into force, the Ministerial Committees for Economy in both the Kurdistan Region and federal Iraq must officially sign the final accord on the ASYCUDA system.
