The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said on Thursday that American forces have lifted the blockade on maritime traffic entering and exiting Iranian ports, following a directive from the US President.

End of Blockade Enforcement

In a statement, CENTCOM said US forces are no longer impeding the movement of vessels to and from Iranian ports in the Arabian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, and confirmed that all blockade enforcement operations have been halted.

Continued Naval Presence

The command added that US naval forces will remain deployed in the wider region to monitor compliance and ensure that the terms of the arrangement are fully implemented.

“Our naval ships will remain in the general area to ensure that all aspects of the agreement are adhered to and fully enforced,” the statement said.

No Further Details Provided

CENTCOM did not provide additional details regarding the nature of the agreement or the expected duration of the continued US naval presence in the region.
