KRG Ministry of Interior Issues Arrest Warrants for Channel8 Chairman and Presenter
The Ministry of Interior of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has issued arrest warrants for Ahmed Najm, Chairman of Channel8's Board of Directors, and presenter Bzhar Dabax over the alleged misuse of telecommunication devices.
According to an official document from the ministry, the arrest warrants were signed by Interior Minister Rebar Ahmed on Sunday.
It orders the arrest of Ahmed Najmadin Ibrahim Talabani and Bzhar Ali Anwar Afrasiab Dabax under Article 2 of the Law on Misuse of Telecommunication Devices.
Security Forces Ordered to Report Impending Detentions
The official document, issued under serial number 13175, is addressed to all general directorates of the internal security forces and relevant authorities.
Following the execution of these warrants, the Erbil Investigation Court is to be officially notified of their detention.
Police Chief Orders All Governorates to Execute Warrants
Per the ministry’s statement, following this initial directive from the Interior Minister, the General Directorate of the Kurdistan Region Police issued a subsequent administrative order on May 18, signed by Police Director General Tariq Ahmed.
This subsequent directive was sent to all police directorates across the governorates of Erbil, Sulaymaniyah, Duhok, and Halabja—as well as the directorates of Zakho, Ranya, Garmian, Soran, and Akre—calling for the immediate execution of the arrest warrants.
