Supreme Judicial Council: $10 Million and 31 Billion Dinars Confiscated in Adnan al-Jumaili Corruption Case

The Supreme Judicial Council of Iraq has announced the latest figures related to the cash, gold, and assets seized in the corruption case involving Adnan al-Jumaili, former Deputy Minister of Oil for Refining Affairs.

According to the official statement, the total value of confiscated funds has reached 10 million U.S. dollars and 31 billion Iraqi dinars, in addition to dozens of properties and luxury vehicles.

Millions of Dollars and Billions of Dinars Seized

The Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council disclosed updated figures on the cash and assets confiscated from Adnan al-Jumaili.

According to the council, the total amount seized so far has reached 10 million U.S. dollars and 31 billion Iraqi dinars, alongside dozens of properties and luxury vehicles.

Central Criminal Court Continues Legal Proceedings

The council stated that the investigative judge at the Central Criminal Court for Corruption Cases continues to oversee the investigation involving al-Jumaili and other implicated individuals.

As part of efforts to trace and recover funds allegedly accumulated through embezzlement by the accused and associated parties, the total legally confiscated amount has reached 10 million U.S. dollars and 31 billion Iraqi dinars.

Cash Seized and Smuggling Attempt Prevented

The court stated that on Sunday evening, authorities confiscated approximately 20 billion Iraqi dinars hidden on a farm.

The court also announced that it had prevented an attempt to smuggle an additional 5 billion Iraqi dinars out of one of the governorates.

According to the Supreme Judicial Council, ongoing legal measures have resulted in the confiscation of:

  • 70 properties
  • 21 late-model vehicles
  • 3 kilograms of gold

Investigation Continues into Other Implicated Individuals

The council stated that investigations and tracking efforts involving other individuals connected to the case will continue until legal procedures against all parties are completed.

Circumstances of Adnan al-Jumaili’s Arrest

According to the statement, on May 30, Adnan al-Jumaili, former Deputy Minister for Oil for Refining Affairs and Director of the North Refineries Company and Baiji Refinery, was arrested by a special force under Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi in the al-Ishaqi area of Salah al-Din Governorate.

The arrest was carried out on charges related to financial and administrative corruption cases at the Baiji Refinery.

Initial Figures Announced During the Investigation

The council noted that after preliminary investigations began, it announced on June 2 the seizure of the following:

  • 10 million U.S. dollars
  • 3 billion Iraqi dinars
  • 1 kilogram and 500 grams of gold
  • 40 properties in Baghdad, Erbil, and Salah al-Din

The statement added that a large quantity of various weapons and ammunition was also confiscated from his home.
