In a joint operation carried out this morning, several employees at the customs post near the Chiman checkpoint were arrested while on duty, and investigations have been launched into the case.

Details of the Joint Operation

This morning, a joint force from the Iraqi National Security Service and the Kirkuk office of the Commission of Integrity conducted an operation at a customs post near the Chiman checkpoint.

During official working hours, the force arrested a number of employees inside the customs facility.

Identity and Legal Status of the Detainees

According to information from Kirkuk security forces, five employees were detained during the operation.

Investigative files have been opened for all five individuals; however, the legal article under which they were arrested has not yet been officially announced to the media.

Previous Complaints and Monitoring Efforts

The customs post is located along the main Kirkuk-Sulaymaniyah road.

Previously, citizens, sellers, and merchants had repeatedly criticized the conduct and working methods of employees at this customs point.

The operation was carried out as part of ongoing efforts to monitor border crossings and customs posts.
